New EFS Executive Committee 2026–2030
The European Federation of Sexology’s General Assembly, held in Lisbon from 28 to 30 May 2026, saw the election of the new Executive Committee for the 2026–2030 term. Over the next four years, the new Executive Committee will guide the Federation across clinical research, professional training, advocacy for sexual rights, and the promotion of sexual health throughout Europe.

Esben Esther Pirelli Benestad (Norway) — President
Norwegian physician, family therapist and Professor Emerit in Sexology at the University of Agder, specialist in clinical sexology (NACS). A pioneering advocate for transgender rights and one of Norway’s most prominent trans public figures, they have worked in sexology for over 40 years and received the WAS and the EFS Gold Medal for lifelong contribution to the field.
Charmaine Borg (Netherlands/Malta) — Secretary General
Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology & Experimental Psychopathology at the University of Groningen and licensed psychosexologist, with many peer-reviewed publications on sexual pleasure, minority stress, disgust and intimacy. She co-founded the Groningen Sex Lab and served as Scientific Chair of the EFS 2024 Congress in Bologna.
Stefano Eleuteri (Italy) — Treasurer
Psychologist, psychotherapist and clinical sexologist, Associate professor in Clinical Psychology at Mercatorum University, Rome, and Associate Secretary of the World Association for Sexual Health. Author of many publications, he chaired the Scientific Committee of the EFS 2026 Lisbon Congress.
Sam Geuens (Belgium)
Clinical sexologist, solution-focused psychotherapist and ethicist at PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Belgium), also active in clinical practice at Sint-Franciscus Hospital, Heusden-Zolder. Editor of the Springer textbook Midwifery & Sexuality and Valorisation Manager of the SWYPPe research consortium on youth sexual wellbeing.
Ekaterina Iankovskaia (Montenegro)
Clinical psychologist and systemic family and couple therapist from Montenegro, Chair of the Association “SLOVO” and founder of the Balkan Center for Psychological Education. She has led international sexology training programmes for Russian-speaking professionals, reaching over 1,500 practitioners.
Nadia Morand (France)
Sexologist, trainer and activist based in France, specialising in sexual health and justice for people with disabilities. Co-creator and President of “Labo de Vie,” she has worked across France and Switzerland promoting inclusive, anti-ableist approaches to sexual rights and pleasure.
Dželila Mulić Čorbo (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
Psychologist and psychotherapist from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Coordinator of the Department for Sexual Health, Therapy and Counselling at the BHIDAPA Academy for Psychotherapy. Her work focuses on trauma-informed approaches and strengthening professional capacity in sexual health across the region.
Filippo Maria Nimbi (Italy) — President Elect
Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at Università degli Studi eCampus, Italy, psychologist and clinical psychosexologist. He works in many research and educational projects under a sex positive framework with many peer-reviewed publications on sexual desire, LGBTQIA+ topics and sexuality in chronic diseases. Previously served as EFS General Secretary before being elected President Elect.
Patricia Pascoal (Portugal) Associate Professor at Universidade Lusófona and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, and licensed cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist and sex therapist. Author of many research papers on sexual health and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Sexual Medicine.
Tal Peleg Sagy (Israel)
Clinical psychologist and certified sex therapy supervisor, Director of the Sexual Health Clinic at Reuth Rehabilitation Hospital in Tel Aviv and lecturer at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Her integrative practice draws on EMDR, Schema Therapy, ACT and biofeedback.
Maria Lucia Pop (Denmark)
Medical doctor, specialist in psychiatry and clinical psychologist, working in sexology since 2015 at the Sexological Center, Aalborg University Hospital, Denmark. Faculty member of the ESSM School of Sexual Medicine and member of the EFS 2022 Aalborg organising committee.
Mehmet Sungur (Turkey) — Past President
Professor of Psychiatry at Marmara University, Istanbul, and a pioneer of cognitive-behavioural sex therapy in Turkey, founder of the Turkish Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies. He served as EFS President from 2020 to 2024 and received the EFS Gold Medal for his lifelong contribution to the field
