Call for Papers: “Sexuality in a Changing World” – Submission Deadline Extended to 31 October 2026

The International Journal of Impotence Research (IJIR), in collaboration with the European Federation of Sexology (EFS), has extended the submission deadline for its special issue, “Sexuality in a Changing World”, to 31 October 2026. Guest edited by Dr Esben Esther Pirelli Benestad and Dr Stefano Eleuteri, the special issue invites researchers and professionals from sexology, sexual medicine, and related disciplines to contribute to the discussion on the evolving challenges and perspectives shaping sexuality today.

Sexuality in a Changing World: Emerging Challenges and Perspectives

Across Europe and worldwide, sexuality is being reshaped by changing social norms, digital forms of intimacy, migration, population ageing, and increasingly diverse models of sexual identities and relationships. Growing awareness of sexual rights, alongside the impact of emerging conflicts on experiences of sexuality and gender, further highlights the need for updated approaches to research, clinical practice, education, and policy.

The special issue aims to bring together contributions from different disciplines to explore these developments, identify emerging challenges, and propose forward-looking frameworks based on scientific evidence, cultural sensitivity, and social justice.

Topics and Types of Contributions

The call for papers welcomes Original Articles, Reviews, Comments, and Perspectives addressing a range of themes, including:

  • Sexuality and new media;

  • New sexual and relationship configurations;

  • Sexuality and social issues, including economic crises and war;

  • Emerging aspects of sexual identities, tools, and dimensions.

Researchers and professionals working across relevant disciplines are invited to contribute to this interdisciplinary discussion.

The extended deadline for submissions is 31 October 2026.

Authors should submit their manuscripts through the official IJIR submission platform and select “Sexuality in a Changing World” from the drop-down menu on the submission form.
