EFS Statutes Revision Approved -A New Chapter for the Federation
We are pleased to announce that the revised Statutes of the European Federation of Sexology, put forward for consultation ahead of the Lisbon Congress, have been formally approved by the General Assembly and are now in force as of 29 May 2026 — marking the Statutes’ fifth version since the Federation’s founding in Geneva in 1991.
This revision reflects the EFS’s continued growth and maturity as an organization. Among the key updates, the Executive Committee is now formally structured in Croatia ensuring the Committee remains genuinely pan-European and pluridisciplinary, inclusive and sensitive. The number of categories of membership societies has been increased to four in order to achieve a better balance of representation within the federation.
The revised text also clarifies governance procedures, from remote voting and proxy rules to the process for convening Extraordinary General Assemblies, giving our member societies a more transparent and resilient framework to work within.
On behalf of the Executive Committee, we want to thank every member society and individual member who contributed feedback during the consultation process. Good governance is the backbone that allows us to focus on what matters most: advancing sexual health, rights, and education across Europe. The full text of the revised Statutes is available on our website.
